bragging

Since I know he wouldn't dare, I just thought I'd let everyone know that Brandon gave his first sermon in the morning service today and did an awesome job! It was neat to see how much people at our church love him because they were so excited for him. He wasn't nervous and didn't act like it was a big deal, but I was very proud of him.

This happened to also be the week when our Samaritan's Purse shoeboxes were due, so they had all of the kids come into the service and bring them up front. Brandon and I were helping with songs, so we were up on the stage at that point. I watched as Drew came in, happy to be walking down with one of the helpers. As he got closer and saw us up on the stage, he looked confused and then annoyed. As all of the other kids dropped off the shoeboxes and sat down, Drew was still standing, with a scowl on his face. He quickly added some crossed arms to the look, and as Brandon made a joke about the pastor's kid being the only one to misbehave, he started to cry. It was pretty sad and kind of funny. I want to know which one of you filled him in on the pastor's kid stereotype. 90% of the time, my son is a sweetie, and that other 10% almost always occurs when we are at church. Lucky for him, he flashes his dimples just enough to get away with it and the people there are gracious enough to put up with it. For now at least.
