Last season, Drew's first, he didn't make any goals. He was the youngest and only one without experience, so he had some catching up to do. He didn't really care because his team was really good and won all but one game so we could celebrate that. And of course, we didn't care; we just wanted him to have fun, learn, be active, and maybe challenge himself. But this season, he really wanted to score. There was a bit of added incentive because my parents told him they'd give him $20 for his first goal. The kid loooves money. ;) A couple games into the season, he made his first goal (he's made a few more since) - It was a great shot. I have to admit, I got a little choked up over it, and I could see a really proud papa standing on the coaches side of the field. I'm sure that confirms the cheesy "soccer mom" label for me, but I don't care if it had been winning a burping contest-- when your kid succeeds in a goal he's set for himself, it's pretty exciting. The cutest part was talking to Drew after the game. He asked if I saw that he made a goal (uh, YEAH!). He said, I don't know why, but afterwards my mouth was smiling so big and I couldn't help it. And every time I thought about it again, I couldn't make my mouth stop smiling. Me either kid.
At practice one night. He was using his binoculars (hands) to see what was going on at the other end of the field.
